Catching Up with Chiara Shannon on Her LA Healing Garden (Tribe 2)
GOOD NEWS ↠ Is worth sharing! We recently caught up with Tribe 2 member, Chiara Shannon @theyogisommelier
(Wine Buyer, Consultant, Educator WSET Advanced Sommelier) about her latest project which incorporates a healing garden, intimate gatherings, mindfulness, wine tasting and local Los Angeles area wine producers.
Chiara describes this new event as “… A dream come true.”
Q: Why is this event so important to you?
A: This is an extension of my mission to connect people and place through wine with an emphasis on supporting local producers, this the first of its kind: a celebration of LA winemakers, LA farmers, and the habitat of LA itself, all wrapped up into one.
As a native Angeleno, I have long championed LA wines, but few--and this is true for consumers and professionals--are aware of LA as a place for wine, let alone its history as once the dominant wine growing region in the state. Experience is the ultimate teacher, so I thought: why not raise awareness of LA wines by creating fresh opportunity for consumers and producers to come together on real, living LA terroir?
AND… the first event sold out in days - makes me SO excited about the future.
Q: Tell me about Rose Hill Farm and your partnership with LA Winemakers?
A: The event is set at Rose Hill Farm, @rose.hill.farm stunning organic urban farm and garden hand-built on a steep LA hillside backyard, and in partnership with the LA Vintners Association on the Healing Gardens platform, each event in the series features different LA winemakers and is meant to be an immersive experience where guests engage in the garden, the wine and with each other. In addition to the pleasure of the garden and trying LA wines, the hope is to inspire ideas and awareness about what is possible...in LA and beyond.
PS- Healing Gardens is a new platform that is like airbnb for gardens with a wellness mission: @healinggardens.co
Q: What’s in your glass? You are absolutely glowing in this picture.
A: 2020 "Aurora", a Sauvignon Blanc blend by Byron Blatty Wines, one of the founding members of the Los Angeles Vintners Association. It is made in a Bordeaux Blanc style, creamy and round, with lovely aromatics and great depth of flavor. @byronblattywines @lavintners
Q: How has been part of the Dream Big Darling Community impacted you?
A: My experience at DBD (Virtual Retreat) last year was instrumental in helping me get my consulting business off the ground and motivating me to focus on more meaningful projects. It came at a pivotal time in my career and its impact continues to resonate today.
